It isn’t too late!
Another convention offering
Children’s feeding programs are created in Nicaragua to help improve the quality of life for children who live in extreme poverty. The program teaches and guides children regarding personal care and hygiene such as brushing teeth, food preparation and water handling, etc. It provides reinforcement in their school tasks. Preventive and curative health care includes distribution of vitamins and sick children being seen by a doctor. Instruction in the Word of God is provided so children can know and grow in the great love of Jesus from childhood. Children and families learn about prayers of thanksgiving for God’s blessings. A convention offering will provide additional funds for this program.
Should your society members wish to take an offering for this program prior to the convention and send it with your zone delegate, you may do so.
As we have done in the past, there will also be an offering for the mission grant goal.

Address change
Most won’t need this address change, but if you do, please make note that the convention treasurer, Marguerite Reynolds, has moved.
A convention offering
Medical and Dental Clinical Support – Nicaragua
While it is generally assumed that all Nicaraguans have access to medical and dental care, there is a significant number who, for a multitude of reasons, are falling through the cracks. The LCC Mission in Nicaragua has sought to provide medical and dental care to the pastors and deaconesses as well as meet some of the needs of the poor who surround the mission.
The medical clinic is open every Thursday beginning at 8:00 a.m. and remains open until all patients have seen the doctor. There is also a qualified dentist on staff. The clinic seeks to have available the most common types of medication prescribed because, in many cases, the patients are too poor to purchase the medication themselves. A pastor spends time at the clinic introducing patients to Jesus. One of our convention offering will provide additional funds for this program. If others who are unable to attend the convention would like to send an offering with someone who will be there, they are welcome to do so.

Bring your gifts to Kelowna
Gifts of Love (ingathering) are to be collected, dedicated and given to Kelowna Gospel Mission during the national LWML–Canada convention in Kelowna, B.C., July 5-8, 2012.
You have been asking if you should only bring one item to the convention…the answer is NO. Please bring as many items as you can squeeze into your luggage. The mission will be delighted to receive them all!
Members of the Member Development committee hope they will have to recruit volunteers to help them count everything.

Important information regarding accommodation at convention
The hotel reservation form has the following statement on it.
“All lodging bills are to be paid directly to the convention site by the registrant unless otherwise arranged by the LWML-Canada President” Perhaps it is not as clear as it could be.
There is also a note in the 2nd PR package stating: You are responsible for arranging your accommodations. Please make hotel reservations directly by mail or phone. A form is included for your convenience. Unfortunately the newsletter of information is not handed out with the forms in some societies.
To clarify then - hotel accommodations must be made directly with the hotel. The Hotel Reservation form was provided by the hotel for your convenience so you know what information is required. There is a toll free number on the form which is the central booking number for Coast Capri hotels. You will need to tell them you want to reserve a room at the hotel in Kelowna and provide the Group Code that is on the upper right of the form.
Unfortunately, there are only 16 Standard rooms in the Coast Capri in Kelowna. They are attempting to make some minor changes to slightly increase that number. However those will most likely be booked quickly and you will need to reserve the Superior room. This information has just come to our attention and we apologize that we weren’t able to explain this in more detail at an earlier date.

Have you ordered your convention shirt?
Though it is intended that those going on the mission walk wear these convention t-shirts, they are available to anyone attending the convention. Just fill out the t-shirt order information on your registration. And, if you missed it you can still order one. But, don’t wait too long or you may miss out on the order going to the company producing them.
Exciting convention activities are being designed specifically for you, whether you are a young woman or a seasoned LWMLC veteran. Invite your friends to join you as women from across this country gather in Kelowna for this unique and joy-filled experience centred on the theme “Hold Fast to the Word.”

Host committee preparing for you
Jeanette Wood and Linda Rittaler, Host Committee Co-chairs, and the women and men from the Alberta-British Columbia District are all working on the multitude of tasks to be completed before the LWML-Canada convention July 5-8 in Kelowna, B.C. They are preparing things just for you and they say, “Please come! You’ll be glad you did!” Please keep them in your prayers.
Each society has recently received an information newsletter and all the forms required to attend the convention. It is important that everyone planning to register has ALL of the information, not just the forms. Thanks for your help in that regard. If your society did not receive it, contact prpacket@lutheranwomen.ca.
